LAHORE (Kashmiri English): The Punjab Masstransit Authority on Friday announced a 33 percent increase in metro bus fares across the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) network in the province, putting more burden on inflation-hit commuters.
In a Facebook post, the transit authority said the fare has been increased by Rs 10, bringing the new price to Rs 40.
The increase in fares will be implemented in the metro bus systems in Lahore, Rawalpindi-Islamabad, and Multan from March 26, 2026, it said.
In addition, the Punjab Masstransit Authority also clarified that T-Cash Card holders will be able to buy tickets for only Rs 25, getting a discount of Rs 15, under a new subsidy scheme.
Punjab Metro T-Cash card
Last year, the Punjab Transport Department issued the T-Cash card for efficient traveling on mass transit systems across the province, including Metrobus and Orange Line services.
According to the Punjab Mass Transit Authority, the T-Card will serve as a smart payment solution across the province’s mass transit systems, focused on digitizing public services and improving commuter convenience.
Commuters can travel seamlessly using this card on both the Metrobus and Orange Line trains.
Officials said that the current token system will be discontinued once the T-Card rollout is complete and public awareness campaigns are conducted.
How to get T-Cash card
Citizens can apply for the T-Cash card through the Punjab government’s e-Transit portal, app, or helpline. They can apply through the e-Transit Punjab website, the e-Transit mobile app, or by calling the 1762 helpline, where agents can assist with the process.
After going to the official T-Cash Card registration website, fill in the required information for the online registration
It will ask for the full name, Father’s name, CNIC, or B-Form number, Contact number, Educational institute name, City must be Lahore, Rawalpindi, or Multan, photo, and ID proof for the student.
After the required processing time, citizens will be able to collect their card from any Metro station across Lahore.
