ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): With the onset of Ramadan 2026 in Pakistan, the new Zakat rates for gold and silver have been announced to help Muslims determine the amount to be donated to deserving people.

Zakat is an obligatory charity in Islam and one of the five pillars of Islam. Eligible Muslims must pay 2.5 percent of their surplus wealth, including savings, gold, silver, and business assets, to the needy on an annual basis. However, this is only mandatory if their total wealth exceeds a certain minimum level, known as the Nisab level.

Zakat Rate on Per Tola Gold

For 24-karat gold, the rate per tola has been fixed at Rs500,000, which means the Zakaat payable is Rs12,500 per tola and Rs1,071.50 per gram.

For 21-karat gold, the rate has been fixed at Rs485,300 per tola, with Zakaat payable of Rs12,132.50 per tola and Rs1,040 per gram. For 18-karat gold, the rate per tola is Rs375,000, which means the Zakaat payable is Rs9,375 per tola and Rs803.75 per gram.

Zakat Rate on Per Tola Silver

Meanwhile, silver has been valued at Rs10,500 per tola, with Zakaat fixed at Rs262.50 per tola and Rs22.50 per gram.

Fitrana, Fidya rates for Ramadan 2026

Chairman of the Islamic Ideological Council, Allama Dr. Raghib Hussain Naeemi, has announced the rates of Sadaqah-ul-Fitr and Fidyah-ul-Sawm for Ramadan 2026.

According to the press release, the minimum amount of Sadaqah-ul-Fitr and Fidyah-ul-Sawm this year has been set at Rs. 300 per person.

Rate of Sadaqah-ul-Fitr and Fidyah-ul-Sawm by commodity: The details of payment per person based on the prices of various commodities are as follows:

  • Wheat flour: Rs. 300
  • Barley: Rs. 1100
  • Dates: Rs. 1600
  • Raisins: Rs. 3800
  • Manqi: Rs. 5400
  • Government flour: Rs. 200.

For those who are able-bodied and can not fast, the ransom for 30 days is as follows:

  • Rs. 9,000 for wheat
  • Rs. 33,000 for barley
  • Rs. 48,000 for dates
  • Rs. 1,14,000 for raisins.

Kaffara for breaking the fast and other orders

The Chairman Council clarified that Zakat al-Fitr is obligatory on every Muslim, male, female, young, and old. He advised those who are able-bodied to adopt the nisab of expensive commodities according to their financial status instead of relying only on wheat so that the deserving can be helped as much as possible.
