MULTAN (Kashmir English): In a significant escalation of the ongoing crackdown on electricity theft across Punjab, authorities have arrested Makhdoom Zahid Bahar Hashmi, the son-in-law of veteran politician Javed Hashmi.
The arrest, confirmed by government sources on Saturday night is part of a “zero-tolerance” policy aimed at recovering billions in lost revenue.
While initial rumors suggested a raid on the residence of Javed Hashmi himself, officials clarified that the operation specifically targeted his son-in-law.
Zahid Bahar Hashmi was taken into custody for allegedly being involved in electricity theft worth millions of rupees. This move underscores the Punjab government’s stance that the crackdown is “indiscriminate,” targeting influential figures and common citizens alike.
