PDMA forecasts more rain, snowfall across Punjab

LAHORE (Kashmir English): The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued a fresh alert warning of more rain and snowfall across Punjab, including hilly areas, over the next 24 hours.

Authorities said all departments are on 24-hour alert to prevent any emergency situation. According to PDMA Punjab, rain is expected in most districts of the province from January 26 to 27.

Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Bahawalpur, are expected to receive rainfall during this period.

Officials have urged the residents to remain cautious and follow advisories issued by local administrations.

Snowfall, rain expected in Murree, Galiyat

The PDMA has warned of snowfall and heavy rain in Murree, Galiyat, and other hilly areas during the next 24 hours. More rain and snowfall is predicted in Murree and Galiyat specifically on January 26 and 27.

Tourists visiting these areas have been advised to remain alert and cooperate with the administration.

According to the DG PDMA, snow has been cleared from all roads in Murree. He confirmed that all highways have been opened and the situation in the city is currently normal.

Officials reported that around 5.5 inches of snowfall was recorded on Friday night, bringing the total snowfall in Murree to nearly 20 inches.

Despite the clearance of roads, the administration remains fully alert. The district administration will continue guiding and protecting tourists to avoid any untoward incident, said the officials.

PDMA Punjab said all relevant departments are on 24-hour alert to prevent any disaster. “In case of an emergency, citizens and tourists should contact the PDMA helpline at 1129.”
