MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Kashmir Police spokesperson has issued an important press briefing regarding the law and order situation in the state, according to which the overall security situation in the region is completely satisfactory.

The police spokesperson said that after the violent acts attributed to the banned Joint Public Action Committee, law enforcement agencies are on alert, and a crackdown against miscreants is underway.

After attempts to sabotage the law and order situation in recent days, the security forces have completely restored all the entry routes and inter-district traffic under their joint strategy.

The police and other security agencies are performing their duties with vigilance to ensure the safety of the lives and property of the citizens and to avert any untoward incident promptly.

Loss of life and property in violent incidents

The police spokesperson said in a press briefing issued on June 15, 2026, that as a result of the recent violent acts, law enforcement agencies had to suffer severe loss of life and property, in which 4 security force personnel were martyred, and 89 were injured.

According to the briefing, serious incidents such as vandalism at the CMH in Rawalakot, violence against patients undergoing treatment there, and firing at an armored vehicle (APC) of the security forces also took place, resulting in severe damage to the vehicle.

Latest situation in Rawalakot and other districts

According to the spokesperson, an adequate number of security personnel have been deployed in Rawalakot to maintain law and order and control the activities of miscreants, who are performing their duties day and night.

On the other hand, the situation is now completely normal in most areas, including Bhimber, Mirpur, Kotli, Sidhanoti, Bagh, Jhelum Valley, and the capital Muzaffarabad. There have been reports of partial shutdowns and limited traffic jams at some places, but overall, business activities and traffic flow are intact.

Hundreds of arrests and arms recovery

It was informed in the press briefing that from June 6 to June 14, 2026, a total of 81 cases have been registered against elements associated with the banned organization, while 425 people have been arrested during various operations.

Illegal arms, automatic weapons, ammunition, walkie-talkie sets, sensitive devices, and other prohibited materials have also been recovered from the possession of the arrested accused.

Fourth Schedule action and appeal to citizens

Police officials say that legal action has been initiated to include the names of more than 100 people involved in miscreant activities in the Fourth Schedule.

The spokesperson has strongly appealed to the citizens to cooperate with the administration to maintain peace and tranquility in the state, not to listen to rumors spread on social media, and to stay away from any illegal gathering or sensitive places.

Citizens have also been asked to immediately report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or district administration.
