ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Two people have lost their lives in various accidents as heavy snowfall has paralysed life in different parts of the country.
In Balochistan, Passengers and vehicles have been stuck on the inter-provincial highway due to snow and slippery conditions, including the N-50 highway, Kan Mehtarzai, Khanozai, and Muslim Bagh.
27 people have been injured in 9 different accidents on N-50.
Due to strong Siberian winds blowing at Kozhak Top, the temperature on the N-25 Chaman-Quetta-Karachi highway has dropped to minus 12.
Several vehicles collided due to a landslide near Shilabagh, resulting in the deaths of two people and injuries to seven.
Weather Update in Other Regions
On the other hand, heavy snowfall was also recorded in the upper areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Mansehra, Upper Galiyat, Shangla, Lower Dir, Mohmand, Kalam, Orakzai, Chitral, and Khyber.
Around 100 vehicles were stranded on the road due to rain and snowfall in various areas of the Tirah Valley of Khyber district. 35 people have been shifted to a safe place.
After heavy snowfall in Shangla, the power system was disrupted, and several communication roads in Chitral were closed for traffic due to snowfall.
6 inches of snow have fallen in the tourist destination Naran, and one and a half inches in Shogran. Tourists have reached Shogran to enjoy the snowfall.
Meanwhile, two to three feet of snow has fallen in the upper areas of the Astore district of Gilgit-Baltistan, cutting off land communication with all the upper areas, leaving people stranded in their homes.
Snowfall also occurred in Hunza and Nagar, and snowfall in the earthquake-affected area of Chiporsan increased the difficulties of the victims living in tents.
Snowfall in Chilas, Babu Sartap, Nanga Parbat, Batugah, Dareel, and Tangir increased the intensity of the cold.
Rain fell in various areas of Azad Kashmir, while intermittent snowfall continues in the upper areas, including Hattian Bala, Chinari, Chakothi, Lipa Valley, Ganga Choti, Urang Kel, Grace,and Sargan Valley.
Snowfall continues in Murree, due to which the Murree Expressway was partially closed for general traffic.
