ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Islamabad Police on Wednesday arrested an Afghan national for impersonating United States (US) Embassy staff in the federal capital.
According to police sources, the suspect, identified as Haris, was caught with a fake US embassy card when he was entering Islamabad’s Diplomatic Enclave through Gate No. 2 in a vehicle accompanied by two women.
Law enforcement and intelligence agencies had already identified the suspect and were monitoring his movements. Police arrested the suspect with the assistance of intelligence agencies. He was subsequently shifted to the Secretariat Police Station for further investigation and legal action.
Police sources said the Afghan national was wanted in multiple fraud cases and had also been the subject of complaints lodged by the US embassy.
The arrested Afghan national has been transferred to the Secretariat police station for further investigation, police said.
