ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Tuesday extended the deadline for filing of income tax returns for the tax year 2025 till October 15.

According to the notification, the deadline had been extended in view of the request from various trade bodies, taxpayers, and tax bar associations.

“The date of filing of Income Tax Return for Tax Year 2025, for the persons who were required to file their returns by September 30th, 2025, is extended to October 15th, 2025,” it reads.

The development comes just hours after the tax authority had ruled out an extension in filing income tax returns, saying that all eligible taxpayers must submit their returns by midnight tonight.

Earlier, the FBR said that taxpayers can easily file their returns through the newly introduced simple income tax return form.

According to the details, those who do not file their returns by the deadline will be considered late filers and will be fined as per the law. Taxpayers will get a fifteen-day extension to submit their returns by paying the due tax.
