MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Kashmir Agriculture Department has organized an “Agricultural Exhibition 2025” at Jalalabad Park in Muzaffarabad to promote local production and encourage farmers.

The event showcased a wide range of agricultural commodities, including seasonal and non-seasonal vegetables, fruits, crops, seeds, medicines, and machinery.

The exhibition aimed to promote local farmers and their produce, while also providing a platform for them to learn from each other’s experiences.

Farmers from all districts of Azad Kashmir, including Muzaffarabad, Neelum, Jhelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch, Haveli, Sidhnoti, Mirpur, Kotli, and Bhimber, participated in the exhibition and set up stalls showcasing their agricultural produce.

According to the press release, Speaker Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Latif Akbar inaugurated the exhibition and inspected the stalls of different agricultural commodities, and also encouraged the local farmers.

Addressing the media on the occasion, Speaker Latif Akbar welcomed the agricultural exhibition, stating that these events help local farmers to learn from each other’s experiences.

He emphasized the need to focus on the agriculture sector to deal with the challenges of climate change.

The Speaker highlighted the importance of preserving traditional crops and fruits that are becoming extinct, and urged the Agriculture Department to work with local farmers to achieve this goal.

Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Sardar Mir Akbar Khan emphasized the agricultural potential of Azad Kashmir and the need to motivate people towards agriculture.

He stressed that being agriculturally self-sufficient means being economically self-sufficient and highlighted the importance of the exhibition in promoting agriculture.

The minister also mentioned the distribution of 2000 good breed milking cows among the people.

“To increase local production, the Agriculture and Livestock Department will provide technical assistance to farmers and establish effective links between farmers,” he said.

On this occasion, a large number of citizens and farmers got the opportunity to benefit from the knowledge and experience of agricultural experts.

Organizing an agricultural exhibition helps encourage farmers, familiarize new farmers with agricultural matters, and attract youth towards agriculture.
