PESHAWAR (Kashmir English): Two more polio cases have been confirmed in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s districts of Lakki Marwat and North Waziristan, National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) said.
The fresh infections bring the total number of polio cases in the country this year to 26.
The NEOC said high-quality vaccination campaigns were underway in southern parts of the province to contain the virus.
“Polio campaigns help protect children”
It further said that polio campaigns help protect children from this incurable disease, adding that fresh drives had begun in southern Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Bajaur and Upper Dir.
It said more than 1.685 million children under the age of five would be targeted in this week’s campaign as it urged parents to ensure their children receive polio drops in every campaign.
