DHQ Mirpur treated 1,404 patients during three Eid days

MIRPUR (Kashmir English): A total of 1404 patients, both in and outdoor, of various minor and serious diseases, were provided with timely and quality medical care at DHQ Mirpur during the Eid-ul-Adha days.

Disclosing this, Medical Superintendent DHQ Teaching Hospital Mirpur, Dr ijaz Ahmed Raja said that under specially conceived effective management strategy, all the emergency departments of DHQ Teaching Hospital Mirpur remained fully functional during the Eid-ul-Adha holidays.

On all of the three days of Eid, doctors, nursing staff, paramedical staff and rescue teams provided timely and quality medical facilities to the patients.

Unveiling detailed performance report issued by the hospital administration, Dr Raja continued that a total of 1404 patients were provided medical assistance and treatment in different departments from May 26 to May 28.

According to the report, 1083 patients were treated in Accident and Emergency, 177 in Cardiology Emergency, 53 in Gynaecology Emergency and 91 children in Pediatrics Emergency.

According to the data, on the first day of Eid, 442 patients were brought to the hospital, including 316 in General and Accident Emergency, 68 in Cardiology, 20 in Gynaecology and 38 children.

On the second day, the number of patients increased to 466, including 391 in General and Accident Emergency, 42 in Cardiology, 19 in Gynaecology and 14 children.

Similarly, on the third day, 496 patients were treated, including 376 in General and Accident Emergency, 67 in Cardiology, 14 in Gynaecology and 39 children.

During the Eid holidays, 11 emergency operations were successfully completed in the hospital.

The Medical Superintendent revealed that 110 people injured in road traffic accidents were provided immediate medical assistance, while 96 patients were admitted to various departments and continued their treatment.

According to hospital sources, only one patient was referred outside Mirpur due to critical condition during the holidays, while 7 patients who were referred from other districts and medical centres were immediately admitted and provided treatment. Only one death was reported during Eid days.

Medical Superintendent Dr. Ijaz Ahmed further said that providing the best medical facilities to the public during busy and emergency days like Eid was the top priority of the hospital administration.

He appreciated the day-to-day services by doctors, nursing staff, paramedical staff, rescue personnel and administrative officers and said that the entire team demonstrated professional responsibility, spirit of service and humanitarian compassion.
