MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Acute wheat shortage triggers a severe crisis in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, with a possible hike in the flour prices in the state.

Due to the negligence of the Food Department and the court order, the prices of flour in the region are likely to skyrocket, which will directly affect the common citizens.

According to the details, “Zarco Associates” has filed a case in the High Court against the contractors involved in milling and supplying wheat across Azad Kashmir.

The court issued a stay order on the milling and new tender process, after which the contractors immediately stopped milling wheat, respecting the court order.

The contractors say that milling has been stopped in compliance with the court order.

However, the Food Department has still failed to pay its dues of billions of rupees. They said that if the dues are not paid immediately and the food department does not take timely steps, the supply of wheat across Azad Kashmir will be completely suspended.

This will result in an unprecedented increase in the prices of flour, and the common man will yearn for even two daily meals.

Public circles have demanded that the government take immediate notice and mobilize the food department so that a possible wheat crisis can be averted and relief can be provided to the people.
