GILGIT (Kashmir English): Earthquake tremors were felt in the Astore district of Gilgit-Baltistan and its surrounding areas on Sunday Morning.
According to the Seismological Center, the earthquake measured 3.7 on the Richter scale and had a depth of 25 kilometers.
The epicenter of the earthquake was 34 kilometers southwest of Skardu. People rushed out of their homes in fear and panic.
However, no loss of life or property was reported from the earthquake.
Earlier, A 4.9 magnitude earthquake was felt in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), including Peshawar, on Friday night, spreading panic among the people.
The tremors were felt in the areas of Bajaur, Khyber, Mohmand, and Malakand.
According to the PMD’s Seismological Center, the depth of the earthquake was 10 kilometers, and the epicenter was recorded near the border areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The earthquake tremors were severe that people came out of their houses and shops, but no reports of any loss of life or property have been received so far.
According to Rescue 1122 and the district administration, all institutions are on alert, and teams have been dispatched to assess the possible damage. Local hospitals have also been alerted in view of the emergency.
The Meteorological Department and the Seismological Center are appealing to citizens to avoid rumors and take precautions in view of possible aftershocks after the earthquake.
