MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Kashmir Education Department said that the headmistress of Government Girls High School Thotha Muzaffarabad has been suspended for corporal punishment of a student.
The AJK education minister took strict action against the headmistress, Naila Mughal, for torturing a fifth-grade student, Laraib Rifaq.
The headmistress has been suspended with immediate effect, and a thorough inquiry has been ordered into the incident, a notification issued on Wednesday said.
Deputy Director, Directorate of Elementary and Secondary Education (Women), Darshawar Ali Naqvi, has been appointed as the inquiry officer to investigate the incident.
The department has made it clear that violence against children will not be tolerated under any circumstances, and effective steps are being taken to ensure students’ rights and safety.
