ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The polio campaign will start in Pakistan from September 1, and 28 million children will be vaccinated against polio in 99 districts of the country.
According to media reports, more than 240,000 polio workers will participate in the polio campaign, and vaccination will also be administered door-to-door in Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, and Islamabad.
The fear of the spread of polio and other diseases has increased in the flood-affected districts, and parents must administer two drops of polio to their children in every campaign.
Health experts said that the immunization course for children should be completed on time.
The polio program said that B-roll and pictures will be available to the media during the anti-polio campaign, and field access will also be provided to media teams during the campaign.
Earlier, two new polio cases were reported from two districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Tank and North Waziristan.
According to the details, the number of polio cases in the province this year has reached 15.
The Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Control at the National Institute of Health, Islamabad, has confirmed two new polio cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
A 16-month-old girl from Union Council Molazai of Tank district and a two-year-old girl from Union Council Miranshah of North Waziristan district have been confirmed to have polio virus.
Thus, the number of polio cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this year has reached 15, including three each from Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank, and North Waziristan districts, and one case each from Torghar, Dera Ismail Khan, and Kohistan Lower districts.
This year, the total number of polio cases across the country has now reached 23, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leading the way with 15 polio cases, while Sindh has reported 6, and Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan have reported one polio case each.
