MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), Turkiye’s state-run aid agency, on Wednesday provided modern rescue equipment to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) of Azad Kashmir to deal with emergency situations.
The rescue equipment includes drones, water rescue boats, motorcycle ambulances, safety gear, and other modern tools required in rescue operations. This initiative aims to make rescue operations more effective and faster in any emergency in Azad Kashmir.
The tools were handed over to SDMA on the final day of a training program on “Capacity Building and Response”, conducted in collaboration with SDMA AJK and TIKA at the State Emergency Operations Center in Muzaffarabad, from August 25 to 27.
The training program was attended by the SDMA, Rescue 1122, rescue divers, emergency medical technicians, and community representatives.
The training sessions aimed to enhance the capabilities of quick response in emergencies and promote institutional coordination.
Upon receiving the equipment, the Rescue 1122 personnel conducted a practical demonstration of rescue operations at Domail on the Jhelum River.
Secretary State Disaster Management Authority Chaudhry Muhammad Farid, Country Head TIKA Saleha Tuna, DG SDMA Sardar Waheed Khan, Director SDMA Saeed Qureshi, and others witnessed the exercises of personnel in the river.
The ceremony was attended by Senior Member Board of Revenue Sardar Muhammad Zafar Khan, Secretary SDMA and Civil Defense, and DG SDMA Sardar Waheed Khan, Directors SDMA Saeed Qureshi, Moazzam Zafar, Raja Noman, representatives of Turkish organization TIKA, and SDMA officers.
