ATTOCK (Kashmir English): The Deputy Commissioner of Attock has declared a district holiday on Thursday, August 28, to celebrate the Urs of the holy Sufi saint Hazrat Sakhi Sultan.
Following the government notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner, all government offices and schools throughout the district will be closed except for essential services.
The Urs of Hazrat Sakhi Sultan is commemorated every year with utmost religious fervor, drawing scores of believers from all parts of Pakistan.
Public Holiday in Pakistan
The blessed month of Rabi-ul-Awal has begun, as today (August) is the beginning of the third Islamic month.
Thus, Eid-i-Miladun Nabi will fall on September 6, as per the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee. Each year, the federal government declares a public holiday on 12 Rabiul Awal, which will fall on September 6 this year.
