BAGH (Kashmir English): In a crackdown against corrupt police officers in Azad Kashmir, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) AJK Abdul Jabbar suspended the SHO City Police Station Bagh, Raja Asghar Khan, for accepting a bribe.
The action was taken against Sub-Inspector Asghar, then SHO Police Station Arja, for accepting bribes from accused individuals involved in a theft case. The accused was arrested for stealing from the house of famous politician and businessman Sajid Iqbal Abbasi.
According to the order issued by the Central Police Office, the decision was made after a complaint was filed by Wajid Hussain, the accused himself, alleging that Raja Asghar Khan accepted a bribe from him.
The IGP has directed the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bagh to take departmental action against the suspended SHO and submit a report.
It is pertinent to mention that gold worth Rs5 million was stolen from election candidate Abbasi’s house, in which his brother’s in-laws were found involved.
