LEEPA VALLEY (Kashmir English): The difference between the chicken prices sold in various areas of Azad Kashmir has sparked public outrage.

According to the details, boiler chicken is being sold in Azad Kashmir’s capital, Muzaffarabad, at  Rs 310 per kg, while in the Leepa Valley, the same chicken is being sold for Rs 430 per kg.

The residents of Leepa Valley are demanding that the authorities take notice, as there has been no disruption reported on the linking roads from Muzaffarabad to Leepa Valley, which have earlier contributed to the price hike.

Local citizens have raised the question that when the roads are clear, the roads are open, and the weather is favorable, what are the reasons why chicken meat is being sold so expensively in Leepa?

Referring to the price increase, a resident stated that ” We used to think that the difference in prices was normal during days of snowfall and landslides, but now that the roads are open, this additional rate is unfair”

Traders argue that the reason for the difference in prices is the will of local shopkeepers, hoarding, and a lack of supervision by the relevant institutions.

Public circles have demanded that the district administration and the food department take immediate notice so that consumers in the Leepa Valley can also get the same prices as those available in Muzaffarabad and other areas.
