ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has said that India would meet a “swift and decisive” military response in case of any ceasefire violation.

During an interview with British broadcaster Sky News, Pakistan’s military spokesperson reiterated that whoever tries to violate our territory, integrity, and sovereignty, our response will be merciless.

“If India thinks it can set up a war front against Pakistan, it will lead to destruction in the region,” Lt Gen Sharif said.

He cautioned that serious escalation could result in mutual destruction, adding that the world now recognised the extent of the nuclear threat. “Countries like the USA understand this absurdity and are well aware of India’s intention in view of nuclear threats.”

Furthermore, in an interview, the general accused India of trying to internalise the issue and harassing Kashmiri people with a heavy troop presence. “It is a problem that has to be resolved by the people of Kashmir as per the United Nations Security Council resolution,” he said.

“Anyone who tries to violate our territory and integrity and sovereignty, our response will be brutal,” DG ISPR continued.

According to Sky News, Pakistan’s military had achieved a significant victory despite the numerical superiority of India’s forces.

In its analysis, the publication said that this success has left India angry, particularly as the United States has begun acknowledging the Kashmir issue amid heightened regional tensions.
