ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): A high-level DG ISPR briefing is underway to update leaders of various political parties on the current national security situation following rising tensions between Pakistan and India after the Pahalgam incident.
Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar and Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, are jointly conducting the DG ISPR briefing at the state-run television headquarters. According to sources, the political leaders are being briefed on the latest developments after India accused Pakistan of involvement in the Pahalgam false flag operation.
Senior leaders from multiple parties have arrived at the venue. Among those in attendance are Khurram Dastgir and Abid Sher Ali from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), along with Interior Advisor Pervez Khattak.
The DG ISPR briefing also includes Dr Farooq Sattar of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), who is present to represent his party. From Sindh, provincial ministers Nasir Hussain Shah, Sharjeel Memon, and Saeed Ghani are attending, while MQM’s Faisal Sabzwari and PPP’s Shazia Marri are also part of the session.
Participants are being informed about the defensive preparedness of the Pakistan Armed Forces, diplomatic efforts at the international level, and the state’s official position on the issue. The DG ISPR briefing aims to ensure that all political stakeholders are on the same page regarding the gravity of the situation and the coordinated national response.
Notably, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has opted not to take part in the briefing, having made the decision prior to the session.
The DG ISPR briefing is considered a crucial step in building political consensus and promoting transparency amid ongoing regional challenges. The leadership of the Armed Forces is ensuring that national unity is upheld during this sensitive time.
