Vehari administration declares public holiday on July 11

VEHARI (Kashmir English):  The district administration has announced a public holiday across Vehari district on July 11 in connection with the annual Urs of Baba Diwan Haji Sher.

According to Deputy Commissioner Khalid Javed, the three-day Urs celebrations will begin on July 9 and continue for three days, attracting devotees and visitors from different areas.

In view of the religious event and the expected influx of pilgrims, the district administration has declared July 11 as a public holiday throughout the district.

Officials clarified that examinations being conducted by educational boards and universities will proceed according to schedule and will not be affected by the holiday announcement.

The administration further stated that essential services, including administrative departments, healthcare institutions and security agencies, will continue to perform their duties as usual to ensure smooth arrangements and maintain public order during the Urs.

The annual Urs of Baba Diwan Haji Sher is one of the prominent religious events in the region and is attended by a large number of devotees every year.
