ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres has arrived in Islamabad on Monday night.
Acting Foreign Secretary Ambassador Nabeel Munir welcomed the UN Secretary-General upon his arrival in Islamabad. He has arrived in Pakistan at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the UN Secretary-General will visit Pakistan until October 8, during which he will hold meetings with President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.
The spokesperson stated that António Guterres will also meet with Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir. The visit will feature discussions on the regional and global situation and highlight Pakistan’s efforts toward global peace and security.
António Guterres will also be briefed on the progress made in Pakistan regarding disaster management and early warning systems.
