WASHINGTON (Kashmir English): President Donald Trump on Tuesday said he thinks the US will end up with a great deal with Iran to end the weeks-long war, adding that Washington is in a strong negotiating position.
“We’re going to end up with a great deal. I think they have no choice… We’re in a very, very strong negotiating position,” Trump told broadcaster CNBC during an interview, when asked what he expected from a second round of talks with Iran
“We’ve taken out their Navy, we’ve taken out their Air Force, we’ve taken out their leaders,” Trump was quoted as saying.
“We’ve taken out their leaders, frankly, which does complicate things in one way, but these leaders are much more rational,” Trump said.
“It is regime change, no matter what you want to call it, which is not something I said I was going to do, but I’ve done it indirectly.”
Answering a question on whether he would extend the ceasefire to allow time for peace talks, the president said that he does not want to extend the ceasefire. “Well, I don’t want to do that,” he said.
Trump said the US would resume its attacks on Iran if a deal is not struck with Tehran soon, Reuters reports.
“I expect to be bombing because I think that’s a better attitude to go in with. But we’re ready to go. I mean, the military is raring to go,” he told CNBC.
