WASHINGTON (Kashmir English): US President Donald Trump Tuesday said that the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz under “Project Freedom”, will be paused for a short period following consultations with Pakistan and other countries, amid ongoing negotiations with Iran.
In a post on Truth Social, the US President said the decision followed what he described as “tremendous military success” in the campaign against Iran and “great progress” towards a final agreement with Tehran’s representatives.
Trump on agreement with Iran
“Based on the request of Pakistan and other Countries… we have mutually agreed that, while the blockade will remain in full force and effect, Project Freedom (the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz) will be paused for a short period of time to see whether or not the agreement can be finalised and signed,” Trump said in the post.
He further said that talks with Iran were moving forward, though no final agreement had yet been reached.
