WASHINGTON, DC (Kashmir English): President Donald Trump said the memorandum of understanding with Iran is effectively “over” as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to rise following a series of reported military strikes across the region.
Speaking during Wednesday morning’s NATO summit, Trump said he no longer believes negotiations with Iran are worthwhile, describing the country as “evil” and accusing it of targeting US military installations in Bahrain and Kuwait.
“They have to know we hit back. It’s a waste of time dealing with them,” Trump said during a press conference, signaling a tougher stance toward Tehran.
Earlier, in his opening remarks at a NATO summit, Trump condemned those responsible for attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, accusing “dirty players” of violating a ceasefire and threatening regional stability.
The US president also said Washington should stop wasting time negotiating over Iran’s nuclear program and instead focus on protecting its interests.
In one of his strongest remarks, Trump compared the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to “cancer,” saying, “You’ve got to cut out cancer early,” while reiterating his administration’s hardline approach toward Iran.
Trump’s comments come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, with concerns growing over regional security and the future of diplomatic efforts surrounding Iran’s nuclear program.
