TORONTO (Kashmir English): Canada has announced a counterattack in response to US tariffs, as Prime Minister Mark Carney has said that new trade tariffs will be implemented on US steel, electronics, and other products from September 8.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney gave a clear message to the US, saying that the interests of Canadian workers, farmers, families and businesses will be protected and every dollar of US trade measures will be accounted for.

Mark Carney said that they are at war with the US on trade issues and Canada will not back down from defending its economic interests.

This announcement by the Canadian Prime Minister came after trade talks between the US and Canada failed.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump had announced a 50% tariff on products imported from Canada. ExecutiveBranch

The US tariffs are likely to affect about $20 billion worth of Canadian exports to the US, which has further intensified trade tensions between the two countries.
