LAHORE (Kashmir English): Pakistan’s ODI Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi has become the quickest bowler from Pakistan to take 150 wickets in one-day international (ODI) cricket matches.
Shaheen has reached the milestone ahead of former Pakistan fast bowlers Waqar Younis and Shoaib Akhtar, who both took 91 matches to claim 150 ODI wickets.
Former spinner Saqlain Mushtaq achieved the same milestone in just 78 matches, making him the fastest Pakistani bowler overall to reach the mark.
Moreover, Shaheen has performed well at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore by taking 16 wickets in six matches.
With his captaincy, the Pakistan team has won nine out of 13 ODI matches so far, according to team statistics.
This achievement makes yet another milestone in the career of Shaheen Shah Afridi in international cricket.
Pakistan release Sufiyan Muqeem, add Maaz Sadaqat to squad
Earlier, Pakistan have released left-arm wrist spinner Sufiyan Muqeem from the national squad, allowing him to return to domestic cricket.
Meanwhile, left-handed batter Maaz Sadaqat has been called up as a replacement amid minor injury concerns in the team.
According to the team update, Muqeem will now resume his domestic commitments after being released from the squad.
Sadaqat’s inclusion is aimed at providing additional batting cover while the team management monitors the fitness of players dealing with minor injuries.
The young batter will get an opportunity to join the national setup and prove his ability if called upon.
The latest changes come as Pakistan continues its preparations for upcoming cricket assignments. The team management is expected to assess the injured players before making decisions about the final playing combination.
