LAHORE (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Women’s Selection Committee has announced 15-member squads for the upcoming One-Day International (ODI) and T20 International (T20) series against Sri Lanka.
The series between the two teams will be played in Hambantota, Sri Lanka, from July 23 to August 4. Fatima Sana will lead the national team in the ODI series, while Muneeba Ali Siddiqui has been appointed captain in her absence in the T20 series.
Fatima Sana recently performed brilliantly in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup held in England and Wales, taking 11 wickets in 5 matches, while also scoring 85 runs, including a half-century.
Thanks to her excellent performance, she was also included in the best team of the tournament.
Selection committee has made 8 changes in the T20 squad compared to the team participating in the T20 World Cup, to provide opportunities to emerging players in the national team.
Iman Nazir, Hamna Bilal, Maham Anis, Momina Riyat, Najia Alvi, Shawal Zulfiqar, Um Hani, and Waheeda Akhtar have been included in the T20 squad.
Among them, Iman Nazir, Maham Anis, and Momina Riyat have not yet made their debut in T20 International cricket, and they may get their first opportunity to represent Pakistan in this series.
Three ODI matches against Sri Lanka will be part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2025-29. Maham Anis and Saira Jabeen are 2 players in the ODI squad who have not yet made their debut in ODI cricket.
The ODI series matches between the two teams will be played on July 23, 25, and 28, respectively.
Pakistan Women’s team will arrive in Sri Lanka on July 20, where the players will participate in training sessions on July 21 and 22, after which the series will officially begin.
