MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Government of the State of Jammu and Kashmir has made significant amendments to the Secondary School Teachers General Line (BS-16) Recruitment and Promotion Rules 2022.
The Secretariat of Elementary and Secondary Education has sent the working paper to the Rules Committee, according to which 25% of the vacancies will now be filled through initial recruitment on the recommendation of the Public Service Commission, and 75% will be filled through promotion from Elementary Teachers BS-11, Qari, Arabic, PET, Drawing, Agriculture, Industrial Arts, Electricity, Handicraft, Home Economics, and Woodwork teachers.
Relief for teachers
The biggest benefit of this amendment is that Elementary Teachers BS-11, who completed their professional qualifications and are promoted to B-16, will get BS-11 seniority from the date they acquired the qualification.
The initiative has fulfilled a long-standing demand of 24000 teachers.
According to experts, this amendment will reduce seniority disputes and court cases, while an improvement in educational standards is also expected.
