BAGH (Kashmir English): Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s Minister for Information Technology, Sardar Zia-ul-Qamar, has said that Muharram-ul-Haram reminds us of the importance of sacrifice, unity, and standing against injustice. He urged people to rise above personal interests and embrace the spirit of humanity, love, and religious harmony.
While addressing the media in Bagh, Sardar Zia-ul-Qamar stated that the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain holds a vital place in history. “Imam Hussain gave everything he had to uphold the truth. His martyrdom teaches us to never bow before oppression and never compromise on justice,” he said.
Sardar Zia-ul-Qamar said, “Love, humanity, friendship, and religious tolerance are the pressing needs of the time. Due to the frequent global changes, world peace is under threat. The blood of the oppressed is being shed like water across the globe.”
He condemned the growing violence across the world and highlighted how the rights of oppressed people are being violated, particularly in regions like Gaza and Kashmir.
He strongly criticised Israel for its aggression in Gaza and blamed it for being a source of ongoing chaos in the Middle East.
Sardar Zia-ul-Qamar further said that the Modi government, which follows a Hindu extremist agenda, has stripped the people of Kashmir of their religious freedom. Strict restrictions are imposed on public gatherings. The freedom-seeking leader Yasin Malik is facing false charges for demanding independence. The Kashmiri people are deeply concerned about the deteriorating health of Yasin Malik.
He also mentioned that senior Hurriyat leader Shabbir Shah is serving an unjust sentence and suffering from serious health issues in prison without access to proper medical care.
He called upon international human rights organisations to take serious notice of the violations happening in India and to raise their voice for the oppressed people of Kashmir.
He added that during Muharram-ul-Haram, people should demonstrate religious tolerance, love, brotherhood, and compassion.
