LAHORE (Kashmir English): Punjab Police has clarified that reports of additional screening of citizens of Azad Kashmir in the province are baseless.
“The audio circulating on social media is fake as Punjab Police has not issued any special instructions.”
Kashmiris not facing discrimination
According to the spokesperson of Punjab Police, routine checkpoints are uniform for all citizens. “Punjab Police believes in equality before the law, not discrimination. No action is being taken against the citizens of Azad Kashmir.”
The purpose of fake audio and rumors is to spread unrest among the public. Citizens should rely only on official sources for verified information, the spokesman said adding in case of any complaint or problem, immediately call 15.
He warned of legal action to those spreading rumours. The spokesperson said that rumors damage public trust. He said the law and order situation in the province is completely normal and Police actions are according to law and uniform for everyone.
It should be noted that earlier, Islamabad Police had also issued a clarification that no instructions were given for special screening of Kashmiris.
Audios are circulating on social media platforms in which it is being said that Kashmiris are being targeted after the September 29 Action Committee protest.
