PTCL, Nayatel say internet may disrupt due to submarine cable maintenance

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) on Monday announced that a maintenance activity on one of its submarine cables can disrupt internet service in Pakistan on October 14, Tuesday.

According to the PTCL spokesperson, a maintenance activity is planned on one of our Submarine cables to repair a faulty repeater by the International Cable Consortium.

The maintenance activity will begin on October 14 at approximately 11:00 a.m. PST and is expected to last up to 18 hours, according to the statement.

“During this period, customers will face Internet service degradation,” the statement said. The spokesperson expressed regret over the inconvenience caused.

The company assured that backup bandwidth arrangements have been made to minimize the impact.

Nayatel, the internet service provider, informed its customers about the possible internet slowness across Pakistan on October 14 during an emergency maintenance activity.

“An emergency maintenance activity is planned on one of Pakistan’s submarine cables on October 14, 2025, at around 11 am, which can last up to 18 hours. This may cause internet slowness across Pakistan,” the service provider wrote on X.

If the maintenance operation proceeds smoothly, full connectivity is expected to be restored by the evening of October 15, Wednesday.
