PTA warns SIMs linked to expired CNICs may be blocked

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has warned mobile phone users that SIMs registered with inactive or expired National Identity Cards can be suspended at any time.

The PTA has advised the citizens to ensure that their National Identity Cards are renewed on time.

The PTA has said in its statement that to continue mobile service without interruption, users should keep an eye on the expiration date of their National Identity Cards and renew it on time.

The spokesperson said that if the identity card becomes inactive, it should first be reactivated by NADRA, after which mobile service can also be maintained.

The authority has directed users to contact the service center of the relevant mobile operator, complete biometric verification and also check the current status of their SIM registration, especially if their identity card is inactive.

PTA has said that users can be protected from possible suspension by timely renewal of identity documents and accuracy of information. And mobile connectivity can be maintained without interruption.
