ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has launched a comprehensive crackdown on Indian bots and fake social media accounts that are actively involved in anti-Pakistan campaigns amid rising tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

According to details, Pakistani regulatory bodies have identified dozens of suspicious social media accounts actively involved in spreading anti-Pakistan propaganda.

PTA identified suspicious URLs

The PTA has so far identified over 45 suspicious URLs after it ensured round-the-clock monitoring to counter such hostile activities.

These accounts have been reported to relevant social media platforms for blocking, according to PTA officials.

The authority believes that countering Indian-backed bots and fake social media accounts is an ongoing process requiring constant vigilance.

Given the high tensions on the Eastern border, all relevant Pakistani institutions, including the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, have been mobilized to combat this coordinated disinformation campaign and any account found involved in anti-Pakistan activities will be immediately reported to the respective platform for appropriate action.

According to PTA, the targeted accounts include those clearly part of an organized effort to spread negative narratives against Pakistan following recent diplomatic tensions between the neighbouring countries.

The PTA has also urged citizens to remain vigilant against misleading information and report suspicious content to the relevant authorities.
