President AJK calls for quality education at state-run Poonch University

MIRPUR (Kashmir English): President AJK Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry has instructed the administration of the Haveli Campus, part of the University of Poonch, to fully focus on raising the standard of education at Jamia Bagh and to ensure proper handling of administrative matters, according to an official statement.

The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, who also serves as Chancellor of public universities in the region, issued these directions during a meeting with the Director of the Haveli Campus, Prof Dr Khawaja Farooq Ahmed.

The meeting took place at the Jammu Kashmir House in Islamabad on Thursday, as shared by the President AJK’s office later that evening.

Both discussed a range of topics, particularly the need to improve academic standards across government-run universities in AJK.

The President AJK also gave Prof Dr Khawaja Farooq Ahmed additional responsibilities by appointing him as the Vice Chancellor of Women’s University Bagh, President AJK’s office added.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry appointed Professor Dr Khawaja Farooq Ahmed as the interim Vice-Chancellor of Women University Bagh.

The position became vacant after Dr Abdul Hameed, the previous Vice-Chancellor, retired on June 2. Dr Khawaja Farooq Ahmed, who served as the founding director of Haveli Campus, took over the role.

The appointment aims to ensure that the university’s operations continue smoothly without disruption.
