ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Monday that a peace agreement has been reached between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran following intensive diplomatic efforts to end regional tensions.

In a statement shared on social media, the prime minister said both sides had agreed to the immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon.

According to the announcement, the official signing ceremony of the US-Iran peace deal will take place in Switzerland on June 19, where representatives of both countries are expected to endorse the deal formally.

Prime Minister Shehbaz welcomed the development and appreciated the commitment shown by both the United States and Iran in pursuing a diplomatic solution to the conflict instead of further escalation.

He also expressed gratitude to the leadership of Qatar for its support in the mediation process, while acknowledging the contributions of Saudi Arabia and Türkiye in facilitating efforts to achieve the agreement.

The prime minister said a series of meetings would be held this week under the supervision of mediators to discuss implementation mechanisms and prepare the groundwork for technical negotiations ahead of the formal signing ceremony.

The agreement is being viewed as a significant diplomatic breakthrough that could help ease tensions in the Middle East and contribute to regional stability after months of uncertainty and conflict.
