ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Senior security officials have said that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in the US-Iran conflict, aimed at reducing regional tensions and promoting stability, played a significant role in recent peace initiatives involving countries in the Middle East.
Speaking during a high-level security briefing with journalists, the security officials stated that Pakistan’s objectives in the negotiations and peace process were focused on two key priorities: ensuring peace in the country’s neighborhood and the region, and helping reduce tensions among Muslim nations.
They further credited Field Marshal Asim Munir for winning this war by his thoughtful and patient peace efforts.
The officials also acknowledged the contributions of regional partners, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Egypt, for their roles in supporting diplomatic initiatives aimed at reducing tensions and promoting stability.
“Pakistan has always believed in diplomatic and security cooperation and military diplomacy,” they said, adding that Pakistan takes positive steps under the guidance of the political leadership to maintain good relations with every country at every stage.
Officials further reaffirmed that Pakistan’s foreign policy is completely independent and multidimensional. “On the diplomatic front, matters are handled with a broad mind and a far-sighted approach.”
‘Pakistan remains incomplete without Kashmir’
On the issue of Kashmir, the sources said that the state of Pakistan is incomplete without Kashmir.
They claimed that the people of Indian-administered Kashmir continue to support the right to self-determination despite political and demographic changes introduced by New Delhi.
“Pakistan Army, Kashmiris, and tribes fought the 1948 war all together, and Pakistan has already fought five wars with India over Kashmir.”
The sources said that voices from Indian-administered Kashmir continue to express support for Pakistan and the right to self-determination.
They questioned whether economic packages, development projects, or subsidies could alter the political aspirations of the people of Kashmir, adding that demographic changes and legal measures could not extinguish their demand for self-determination.
The security officials further told reporters that Indian-administered Kashmir remains heavily militarized and that, despite challenges faced by the population, many Kashmiris remain committed to seeking a political resolution to the dispute.
Moreover, the officials claimed that certain elements have attempted to create instability in Azad Jammu and Kashmir under the guise of public rights movements. The sources alleged that recent developments have exposed hidden agendas and external influences behind some of these activities.
“Pakistan’s leadership continues to prioritize dialogue and negotiations as the preferred path forward,” they added.
