RAWALPINDI: The 99th anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China was celebrated at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, attended by senior military and diplomatic officials of Pakistan and China.
During the ceremony, the two countries reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening the all-weather strategic partnership and promoting regional peace and stability.
A grand ceremony was held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) to mark the 99th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
The ceremony was attended by Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zedong, while Chinese Defense Attaché Major General Wang Zhong, officials of the Chinese Embassy and senior officers of the three armed forces of Pakistan were also present.
Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir welcomed the distinguished guests and congratulated the People’s Liberation Army on its 99th founding anniversary.
He paid tribute to the PLA’s outstanding role in China’s defense, national development and promotion of global peace and security.
Field Marshal Asim Munir said in his address that the friendship between Pakistan and China is unique, time-tested and has stood the test of time, which has always remained strong despite the changing regional and global circumstances.
He said that the Pakistan Armed Forces and the People’s Liberation Army are true partners bound by mutual trust, unwavering cooperation and commitment to safeguard regional peace, stability and common strategic interests.
On this occasion, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong thanked Field Marshal Asim Munir for organizing the event and appreciated the sacrifices and services of the Pakistani armed forces in the fight against terrorism.
The Chinese Ambassador reiterated China’s unwavering support for Pakistan and expressed his determination to further strengthen the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.
