BISHKEK (Kashmir English): Pakistan has claimed three bronze medals so far in mas-wrestling and tug-of-war events at the ongoing 6th World Nomad Games 2026 in Kyrgyzstan, the Traditional Sports and Games Pakistan Association (TSGPA) said.
In a statement, the association added that Pakistani mas-wrestler Muhammad Asim won a bronze medal in the 90kg weight category after defeating an Iranian opponent.
Pakistani female mas-wrestler Iqra Naseeb also won a bronze medal after defeating a Russian mas-wrestler in the above 90 kg weight category. She shared the podium with an Iranian athlete.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s tug-of-war team secured another podium place for Pakistan after overcoming Iran in a closely contested bronze medal match.
The tug-of-war team delivered an impressive performance during the tournament, knocking arch-rival India out of the competition, and went on to defeat 10 countries during its campaign, TSGPA Chairman and head of the Pakistan Contingent Nawab Furqan Khan said.
Furqan congratulated the mass wrestlers and the tug-of-war team on their achievements, saying Pakistani players had brought honour to the country through their hard work, passion, and outstanding performances on the international stage.
He said winning more medals at the World Nomad Games was a source of pride for the entire nation and expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Sports Board and the Government of Pakistan for their support and encouragement.
Pakistan is competing across 23 competitive disciplines, alongside traditional demonstrations, with a 100-member contingent. A total of 106 countries are participating in the Games across 43 disciplines.
Beyond competitive events, the Pakistan contingent will feature showcase demonstrations of Kabaddi, Kite Flying, Desi Kushti (demonstrated by Sajjad Hussain Awan), and Naiza Bazi (demonstrated by equestrian and tent-pegging athlete Aurangzeb Mubashar) to highlight the nation’s rich cultural heritage.
