ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Astronomers in Pakistan have forecast the likely dates for beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr, and Eid-ul-Adha for 2026.
Using scientific methods and calculations, they have provided tentative moon-sighting dates for the holy months and festivals.
According to the experts, the Ramadan crescent is expected to be visible in Pakistan on February 18 and if confirmed, the first day of Ramadan would fall on February 19 (Thursday).
The sighting marks the beginning of the holy month of fasting for Muslims.
Eid-ul-Fitr forecast
The astronomers further predicted that the Shawwal moon, marking the end of Ramadan, will likely to be sighted on March 20. Consequently, Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations are expected to be held on March 21 (Saturday), depending on official moon sighting resultss.
Eid-ul-Adha
According to the experts, the month of Dhul-Hijjah is expected to start on May 17. Based on scientific calculations, Eid-ul-Adha is likely to fall on May 27 (Wednesday).
These dates are subject to confirmation based on the actual sighting of the moon in different parts of the country.
