ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The people of Pakistan established a national holiday to join the global community in observing International Labour Day.

The special event honors the Chicago workers who demonstrated against factory worker mistreatment and suffered police brutality during their 1886 demonstration.

The day exists as a strong demonstration of labor rights progress, which workers worldwide have been pursuing for more than 100 years. The Pakistan government established this celebration as a national holiday in 1973 when Zulfikar Ali Bhutto served as the country’s leader.

The country today commemorates the working class through multiple seminars and conferences and energetic rallies, which take place in major cities and small towns throughout the nation.

Laborers in Ghotki District, Obaro Tehsil, continue their work in the sun because they need to provide for their families despite the holiday. The people who work during this time face economic challenges that prevent them from enjoying the holiday.

The working class demands more than symbolic actions and yearly commitments, according to their demands. The people are asking for better living standards, which would lead to improved financial security through actual government initiatives.

The people who seek real help demand that officials move from talking about their plans to carrying out their programs. The day shows that Pakistani workers need to keep fighting until they receive fair salaries and proper work conditions.
