KURRAM (Kashmir English): Afghan Taliban forces opened unprovoked fire on Pakistani civilian areas and military posts in the Kurram sector, prompting a strong retaliatory response from Pakistan’s security forces.
According to security sources, Afghan Taliban positions in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar and Paktia provinces targeted Pakistani border posts and civilian-populated areas with heavy weapons, mortars and other arms.
Pakistan Army troops deployed along the border responded immediately and targeted multiple Afghan Taliban border posts, mortar positions and defensive positions with small arms, heavy weapons and artillery.
The sources said the retaliatory action forced Afghan Taliban personnel to abandon several positions and withdraw from the area.
The situation along the border is being closely monitored, with security forces maintaining a heightened state of readiness.
Pakistan has reiterated that any further act of aggression along the border will receive an immediate response.
Four FAH militants killed, 17 detained after overnight operation
QUETTA (Kashmir English): Security forces repelled an attack on Khalil Shaheed Post during the night of September 25-26 and subsequently killed four militants and detained 17 suspects during a follow-up operation, according to security sources.
The sources said a militant group led by Commander Asad Bolani, accompanied by Commander Rafique, launched a multi-directional attack and attempted to raid the Khalil Shaheed Post.
The attack was repulsed, causing casualties among the militants. The engagement continued for around three hours before the attackers withdrew.
In a subsequent operation, security personnel established an ambush along the suspected withdrawal routes of the militants. At first light, additional personnel joined the operation and began a search operation between Digari X and Khalil Shaheed Post to locate the fleeing militants.
At around 4pm, two militants carrying a dead body were spotted moving away from a vehicle. Both were engaged and killed, according to the sources.
During sanitisation of the area at around 5:20pm, security personnel also recovered the body of another militant that had reportedly been abandoned during an earlier attempt to retrieve it.
The sources said 17 suspects were subsequently detained on information provided by intelligence and investigation teams. They are being questioned for further leads.
Later in the evening, three security personnel carrying ammunition were ambushed between Khalil Shaheed Post and Digari X. The personnel cleared the ambush site but came under attack again about one kilometre away.
One vehicle was hit by an RPG-7, causing its tyres to burst. The vehicle continued moving on its rims, while all personnel remained safe.
