DAZHOU (Kashmir English): In an outstanding performance, Pakistan U-18 Hockey team put up a great performance in the opening match of the Asia Cup, defeating Hong Kong 8-0.
In the match, Shahbaz Hassan, Abdullah Awan and Muhammad Farooq scored two goals each for Pakistan, while Amir Sohail and Muhammad Zaman scored one goal each.
Pakistan scored first goal in the second quarter, 2 in the third and 5 in the last quarter against the opposing side.
This victory is a clear testament to the team’s courage and capabilities, and also indicates Pakistan’s strong presence in the tournament.
Interestingly, the Pakistani team was able to reach China only a few hours before the match due to visa issues, due to which the players did not get any rest time or any practice.
Despite this, the young players played a great game on the field and did not give the opposing team any chance to score a goal.
Pakistan is placed in Group A alongside China, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, and Sri Lanka.
The green shirts will take on Sri Lanka on July 6, followed by matches against Bangladesh on July 8 and China on July 9.
A total of 11 teams are participating in the tournament.
