BAGHSAR: An information workshop on olive and fruit tree cultivation was organized in Baghsar Bandala, Samahni in collaboration with the Pakistan Army and the Department of Agriculture.
Local political leadership, public representatives and experts from the Department of Agriculture participated in this workshop, while officers from the Pakistan Army provided their full support for the success of the program.
During the workshop, experts from the Department of Agriculture encouraged the participants to plant olive and other fruit tree orchards. While giving a briefing, the experts said that the climate of Azad Kashmir is very suitable for olive cultivation and by utilizing the vacant lands here, citizens can improve their economic conditions.
He further said that different varieties of olive can be cultivated in Bhimber, which will not only prove beneficial for the local economy, but the age of the olive tree can reach hundreds of years, which will bring long-term economic benefits.
The Pakistan Army thanked the local unit for organizing the workshop and the participants described the training program as not only useful but also encouraging.
In addition, high-quality olive seedlings will be provided by the Azad Kashmir government at a 75 percent subsidy to encourage local people to invest in this sector.
