ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Islamabad Excise and Taxation Department has introduced a new digital facility for overseas Pakistanis by using the PakID app.

Overseas Pakistanis will now be able to complete the process of vehicle registration and transfer through the PakID mobile app.

Director Excise Bilal Azam said that this initiative will eliminate the need for overseas Pakistanis to visit Pakistani embassies or send a power of attorney.

Now download the PakID app for vehicle registration and transfer. Get your biometrics recorded there, and we will ensure the transfer of the vehicle, he added.

He stressed that submitting biometrics through the app will act as proof of identity, which will eliminate the need for a separate Transfer Order (TO) form.

However, he asked both the seller and the buyer to take care of proper documentation.

Bilal Azam said that whenever you sell a vehicle, please sign your transfer letter and hand it over to the buyer.

He explained that biometric verification and a signed transfer letter are legal requirements.

Earlier, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) unveiled an updated version of its Pak ID mobile app, offering a pack of advanced features.

The move is aimed at improving identity-related services for Pakistani citizens, making the process for obtaining national identity cards, passports, and other documents easier and more user-friendly.

“PakID app” updated features

Facial biometric verification

This advanced feature has replaced the traditional fingerprint biometric feature and updates facial characteristics. Another updated feature helps users view family member details.

Online appointment

This feature helps users book appointments for NADRA centers.

Online tracking

This feature helps track application status online.

Streamlined interface

The interface is now smoother, which helps users navigate faster.

According to NADRA officials, the new version (v3.8.1) is designed to improve accessibility and minimize the need for a physical visit to NADRA centers.

Citizens can now process CNIC applications, make corrections, and even check digital versions of their identity documents directly from their smartphones.

The mobile app update is part of the national registration authority’s continued efforts to ensure digital transformation and citizen convenience.

Users are urged to download the latest version or update the previous app to access these new features.
