MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Kashmir government has announced major incentives for the people as Overseas Kashmiri Convention concluded here on Tuesday.
At the end of the Overseas Kashmiri Convention 2026, important decisions were made regarding the issues of expatriates, investment, youth empowerment, and the current situation of the state.
The convention was presided over by the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, while Chief Secretary Khushhal Khan and Acting IGP Muhammad Yasin Qureshi were also present on the occasion.
Responding to the suggestions of group leaders during the panel discussion, Chief Secretary Khushhal Khan said that a facilitation center will be established in Mirpur for the convenience of overseas Kashmiris.
To provide a conducive environment for investors, a ‘Private Board of Investment’ is being established, and the lifting of the ban on leases will be approved in the next cabinet meeting.
A DG IT will be appointed for land computerization, and an ‘Overseas Grievances Redressal Portal’ will be activated for the prompt resolution of complaints.
Easy loans will also be provided through Small and Medium Enterprises (SME).
The Chief Secretary clarified that most points of the agreement with the Awami Action Committee have been implemented, adding instead of taking to the streets again, representatives of the committee should resolve the remaining issues by sitting at the table.
He said that rumors and chaos affect the diaspora and give the enemy an opportunity for propaganda.
Friends of Kashmir
Ghazala Habib, Chairperson of Friends of Kashmir, emphasized the eternal relationship with Pakistan and stated that restoring trust between the police and the public and ideological maturity in the educational curriculum are essential.
Muhammad Khaliq demanded the protection of expatriates’ properties, restoration of their dignity, and implementation of public policy in education and health.
Dr. Zafran (Business and Investment) suggested the establishment of Mirpur Airport, issuance of NOCs for mining and hydel power, tax exemptions, and the establishment of an IT park.
Uzma Khan emphasized empowering women economically and providing equal opportunities to youth in the IT and agriculture sectors.
At the end of the convention, the Prime Minister and Chief Secretary assured that a comprehensive policy paper would be prepared in light of all these suggestions and its immediate implementation would be ensured.
