ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has lowered the prices of Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) just before Ramadan 2025.
The LPG rates, beginning March 1, 2025, will drop by Rs. 6.15, which makes it Rs. 247.82 per kilo. This would also mean a decrease of Rs. 72.57 from the February 2025 price of Rs. 2996.88 for an 11.8 kg domestic cylinder, putting its price around Rs. 2924.31 on the market.
On the other hand, the federal government proposed deregulating petroleum product pricing against the opposition of the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association, arguing that deregulation would benefit the smugglers selling Iranian oil and inferior fuel within the country.
Its warning suggested that deregulation would be an obstacle to making large investments by petroleum dealers in this multi-billion dollar industry.
The proposal states that they would be given an authority to make pricing decisions in the interest of fair competition under the ceiling level of price controlling alcohol in stabilizing prices.
Also, the so-called OMCs will be allowed to mix up to 5% of some sort of ethanol with petroleum products in their bid to cut costs. If the minister is convinced, however, the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association begs him to perform talks by whitewashing their concerns.
