SRINAGAR (Kashmir English): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has urged people in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Azad Kashmir and other parts of the world to observe India’s Republic Day on January 26 as Black Day, to register their protest against the illegal occupation of their motherland.

According to Kashmir Media Service, posters with pictures of jailed leaders Masarrat Aalam Butt, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, and Syed Aasiya Andrabi, highlighting the Sopore, Gawkadal, Kupwara, and Handwara massacres of January by Indian forces, have urged people to observe Indian Republic Day as Black Day.

Posters have appeared in Srinagar and other areas conveying a message to India that Kashmiris will never surrender their just demand for the right to self-determination and will continue their struggle until it reaches its logical end.

“Resistance is Existence”, vow Kashmiris

The posters read: “Resistance is Existence; India’s so-called Republic Day as BLACK DAY Against Illegal occupation of Homeland, exploitation of natural resources, and arbitrary detentions of political leaders, activists, and youth while Kashmir Seeks World Attention”.

The posters say that Indian democracy is a farce and New Delhi’s illegal, undemocratic, and repressive measures in IIOJK should serve as an eye-opener for the international community.

They say that detention cannot break the resolve of the Hurriyat leaders, and they are determined to carry forward the ongoing struggle for securing Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

The posters maintain that India celebrates its Republic Day but is itself the biggest violator of democratic rights. They say that India is practically being ruled by the Hindutva RSS/BJP ideology, which is the enemy of humanity, peace, and identity, and is violating all rights of minorities.

The posters said that illegal detention cannot break the resolve of the Hurriyat leaders, and they are determined to carry forward the ongoing freedom movement.
