MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission has declared the notification regarding the postponement of Mirpur division elections as fake.
The spokesperson for the Election Commission said that the press release circulating on social media about the postponement of elections is fake and added a few mischievous elements are spreading false propaganda regarding the elections.
The spokesperson further said that the Election Commission has not issued any press release regarding the postponement of elections, adding elections in all three districts of Mirpur division will be held on Monday (today), as per the schedule.
They said that voters should not pay attention to rumours, and trust only authentic information.

The spokesperson said polling in Mirpur, Kotli and Bhimber will take place according to the schedule.
It should be remembered that a fake notification is circulating on social media which states, “The Azad Government of the State of Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission, exercising its constitutional and legal powers, informs the general public and all relevant administrative and law enforcement agencies that in view of unavoidable administrative reasons, the current security situation and ensuring the establishment of a peaceful environment, the elections to be held in the following districts of Mirpur division are postponed / cancelled until further notice.”
“The new schedule and dates for the electoral process in the said division will be issued later after taking a formal review of the situation,” the fake notification read further.
